Gwangju Seo-gu Issues Heavy Snow Warning and Conducts Snow Removal Operations
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim I-gang) announced on the 14th that it activated an emergency snow removal response system and promptly carried out snow removal work following the issuance of a heavy snow warning early in the morning.
Starting from 10 PM the previous day when snowfall was forecasted, Seo-gu proactively spread calcium chloride on nine habitual icy sections, including Uncheon-ro, Hoejae-ro, Naebang-ro, and Seochang Intersection.
Using automatic brine spraying devices and 30 smart liquid de-icing boxes, snow removal was also smoothly conducted on difficult sections such as Songam-ro and residential back roads.
The snow removal operation involved 30 workers, three dump trucks, and one excavator, and work was carried out across all areas within Seo-gu until the next morning, allowing residents to commute safely.
On the same day, when a cold wave was expected, Seo-gu plans to minimize vehicle traffic and resident inconvenience by strengthening road patrols within the district and conducting additional snow removal on icy risk areas on outer roads.
A construction department official said, “We carried out snow removal quickly and accurately according to the proactive snow removal measures,” and added, “We will continue to work hard on snow removal not only on main roads but also on back roads together with the Dong administrative welfare centers and residents to ensure residents’ safety.”
