Former Chairman of Seoul Village Bus Association Reported for Embezzlement and Breach of Duty Charges
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A former chairman of the Seoul City Village Bus Transportation Association has been accused of arbitrarily using the association's funds.
On the 13th, the Seoul Gwanak Police Station announced that they are investigating Park Mo, the former chairman of the Seoul City Village Bus Transportation Association, on charges of embezzlement and breach of trust.
Park, who served as the chairman of the association from 2014 to 2020 and stepped down after his term ended in September 2020, is reported to have been accused of using the association's funds for personal purposes.
The accuser claims that Park embezzled approximately 127 million KRW of the association's assets on multiple occasions and arbitrarily used about 534 million KRW over 159 instances.
Additionally, allegations of breach of trust related to the selection of a mask supplier have been raised. It is claimed that during the process of selecting a mask supplier for the village bus association amid the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, Park purchased masks worth several hundred million KRW from a specific company without issuing a public business recruitment notice.

A police official stated, "It is true that a complaint against Park has been filed," but added, "The exact charges and the amount of damages need to be determined through further investigation."
