National Cherry Blossom Spot 'Changwon Jinhae Yeojwacheon' Selected as One of Korea's Top 100 Tourist Attractions
Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Selected 'Must-Visit Excellent Tourist Destinations for Korean and Foreign Tourists'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Jinhae Yeojwacheon in Changwon, known nationwide as a cherry blossom hotspot, has been selected as one of the Korea Tourism 100.
Changwon City, Gyeongnam Special City, announced on the 13th that Jinhae Yeojwacheon has been selected as one of the 'Korea Tourism 100,' a representative tourist destination of Korea for 2023-2024.
The 'Korea Tourism 100' is a project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that selects 100 excellent tourist sites every two years that Koreans and foreign visitors to Korea must visit, promoting them domestically and internationally. This is the sixth time the selection has been made.
Yeojwacheon, selected this time, is a nationally famous cherry blossom spot, known as the filming location of the drama 'Romance,' and is also called 'Romance Bridge.' In spring, along the approximately 1.5 km stretch of the stream, yellow canola flowers bloom on the ground while king cherry trees hang overhead, creating a splendid cherry blossom tunnel. At night, LED lights and street lamps illuminate the cherry blossoms, allowing visitors to enjoy a dreamy atmosphere different from the daytime.
Next spring, the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, the largest flower festival in the nation, will be held again after four years in the Jinhae district of Changwon City, including Yeojwacheon. The Yeojwacheon area is the most crowded cherry blossom cluster during the Gunhangje Festival every year.
Information about the tourist sites selected for the 'Korea Tourism 100,' including Changwon Yeojwacheon, can be found on the Korea Tourism Organization's official website, Korea Tourism 101.
