Indong Advanced Materials Expands 2nd Generation Graphite Heat Dissipation Material with 4 Patents Applied
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Indong Advanced Materials, a K-OTC listed company, announced on the 13th that the expansion for the production of the world’s first 2nd generation ‘Graphite Heat Dissipation Material,’ developed using its own patented technology, has been completed. Through this expansion, Indong Advanced Materials expects its sales revenue next year to grow significantly compared to this year.
The 2nd generation graphite heat dissipation material is designed to be fully insulated, eliminating any interference effects on IT devices caused by electrical conduction. The 1st generation graphite heat dissipation material had electrical conductivity, requiring the attachment of an insulating film to block it; however, the 2nd generation product has excellent insulation functionality, allowing it to be applied directly to IT products without the need for a separate film attachment.
With enhanced self-insulation functionality, the 2nd generation graphite heat dissipation material is thinner compared to the 1st generation product, and especially, since film attachment is not required on the edges, it can be applied to ‘premium bezel-less’ high-resolution TVs and monitors. Once mass production of the 2nd generation heat dissipation material is in full swing, supply will focus on high-end bezel-less TVs and monitors, significantly contributing to sales growth, according to the company.
Indong Advanced Materials applied its own patented technologies extensively in the development of the 2nd generation heat dissipation material. The applied patents include ▲two manufacturing methods for graphite heat dissipation sheets for display panels ▲a coating method for graphite heat dissipation sheets ▲a coating method for graphite heat dissipation sheets for display panels, totaling four patents. These patents have already been registered.
A representative from Indong Advanced Materials said, “The new graphite heat dissipation material does not use adhesives that degrade heat dissipation performance, thereby enhancing the heat dissipation function,” adding, “Tensile strength and complete insulation functions have been added, and the thickness has been drastically reduced, attracting continuous interest from global IT companies.”
He continued, “Through continuous technological development, we plan to expand the application of graphite heat dissipation materials not only to IT products but also to the secondary battery sector, where high-level heat dissipation performance is required,” and added, “We will also expand the application range of our core micro-grinding technology to grow our business into secondary battery materials, including not only anode materials but also cathode materials.”
Indong Advanced Materials first developed composite graphite heat dissipation materials in Korea in 2016 by applying its proprietary carbon micro-grinding technology to by-products generated during steelmaking processes at steel mills. Composite graphite materials are evaluated to have better heat dissipation performance than natural graphite materials and better mass producibility, making them more cost-competitive compared to artificial graphite products made from polyamide (PI) materials.
