View original image[Asia Economy Culture Young Intern Reporter] Chris Sutton, a British BBC commentator who became famous as the 'Human Octopus' during the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup, predicted that France and Argentina would reach the final. Before the World Cup began, he accurately predicted the 12 teams advancing to the round of 16 and correctly forecasted the winners of two of the four quarterfinal matches, Morocco and France, including the exact scores. This is why his remarks are attracting attention.
Sutton, a former Scottish football player, announced his predictions for the 2022 Qatar World Cup semifinals on the British public broadcaster BBC on the 12th. According to him, Argentina will beat Croatia 1-0, and France will win 2-1 against Morocco.
Sutton said, "The Croatian team is excellently organized, so it will be a very tough match for Argentina," adding, "The probability of either team winning is 50-50. However, having been wrong before by predicting with my heart instead of my head, I chose differently this time. I expect Lionel Messi to reach the final."
Regarding Morocco, he explained, "They counterattack at a fast pace, but this time it won't be very effective," and added, "France is playing smoothly, and whenever they get a chance, they relentlessly press their opponents. It seems Morocco will now say their goodbyes."
Meanwhile, Sutton also expressed a personal wish to see a final match between Croatia and Morocco. According to the BBC report, he said, "Both Argentina and Morocco receive fantastic support, so I want to see both teams advance to the semifinals," and added, "It would be wonderful if Morocco reached the final as an African team. People tend to overlook teams outside Europe and South America, but Morocco has made people think differently."
