Busan City Achieves Three Consecutive Years of Awards in Childcare Policy Evaluation by Ministry of Health and Welfare
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City received the Excellence Award in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's '2022 Childcare Policy Outstanding Local Government Evaluation,' achieving the remarkable feat of winning for three consecutive years since 2020.
This evaluation was conducted nationwide targeting metropolitan and basic local governments, comprehensively assessing seven indicators including contributions to improving childcare teachers' treatment, daycare center safety management, expansion of public childcare, and COVID-19 response.
The city received high praise for implementing detailed policies across childcare, such as support for part-time substitute teachers, efforts to prevent safety accidents, expansion of national and public daycare centers, operation of the 100-member Busan Dad Group, and customized childcare scholarship programs.
Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, "Winning the local government evaluation in the childcare policy sector for three consecutive years holds greater significance as it was achieved amid low birth rates and the COVID-19 situation," adding, "I sincerely thank the staff who quietly fulfilled their roles and the childcare teachers and citizens who showed interest in childcare policies and raised their voices together."
