Issuance of Commemorative Stamp for Korea's First Indigenous Space Launch Vehicle 'Nuriho'
Ujeong Business Headquarters to Start Sales from the 16th
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] The Korea Post under the Ministry of Science and ICT will sell 656,000 stamps commemorating the successful launch of the Nuriho starting from the 16th.
The stamp features the image of the Nuriho powerfully launching from the second launch pad at Naro Space Center in Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do.
The Nuriho, which flew into space on June 21, successfully completed communication with the performance verification satellite. It is regarded as having elevated South Korea to the status of the world's seventh space power.
"Nuri" is an old word for "world," meaning "opening a new world expanded into space." The Nuriho has been developed since 2010 to secure the capability to carry 1.5-ton class satellites into space orbit (600?800 km). It is scheduled to be launched four more times from next year until 2027.
