The Citizen Safety Culture University was first launched in 2014 to cultivate citizens' safety awareness and train leaders of local safety culture movements by providing citizens with safety culture knowledge and safety experience opportunities. Over seven terms, it has produced about 970 graduates. This 8th term awarded certificates to 56 participants who attended more than four weeks during the six-week education period.
The 8th Citizen Safety Culture University was held every Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for six weeks from November 1 to December 6. The program included essential safety education for daily life such as safety special lectures, fire safety practice, and general knowledge lectures. In particular, disaster and accident response education, including how to survive disasters, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, received great responses from the participants.
Jin Jeong-gyu, president of the 8th student council, said, “Even though I wanted to receive safety education, there was no place to get systematic training. It was beneficial to experience various fields of safety education here, and if given the chance, I would like to participate again in the 9th term.”

Jo Myeong-rae, the 2nd Deputy Mayor, said, “Although the importance of safety education is well known, it is difficult to receive even one session of safety training. The passion of the graduates who completed the six-week course will be the driving force to protect the safety of Changwon City. I ask you to become safety evangelists who spread the safety knowledge learned here.”
