[Breaking News 2] North Korea Fires Artillery in East Sea Buffer Zone
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] It has been confirmed that North Korea is conducting artillery firing training within the maritime buffer zone of the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the East Sea. This is a violation of the September 19 military agreement following yesterday's artillery firing.
According to military authorities on the 6th, South Korea and the United States conducted a two-day multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) training at Damteo Base in Samyul-ri, Cheorwon, on the morning of the same day. The military had announced that 24 MLRS rockets would be fired during the artillery training.
In response to this training, North Korea carried out artillery firing toward the sea for the second day. It is reported that the impact points were within the maritime buffer zone, raising concerns that this again violates the September 19 inter-Korean military agreement.

Regarding this, a spokesperson for the North Korean General Staff said on the same day, "Following yesterday (the 5th), around 9:15 a.m. today, there were indications that the enemy once again fired multiple rocket launchers and howitzers near the frontline," adding, "The General Staff (omitted) issued orders to immediately carry out live-fire artillery shelling at sea as a strong counter-response warning against the identified frontline artillery units."
