The No.1 Fixed Music on Home Shopping is 'DeonDeon Dance'... Girl Group Songs Dominate the Top Rankings
TS Shampoo Features Lim Young-woong, Kojima Features Jang Yoon-jung
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] GS Shop announced on the 6th that Oh My Girl's "Dun Dun Dance" ranked first as the fixed background music on home shopping channels.
According to GS Shop, an analysis of the ranking of music used as background music on home shopping from January to November this year showed that "Dun Dun Dance" was used 867 times, ranking first. Following that, Choi Yena's "Smiley" was used 844 times, ranking second, and Apink's "Free & Love" was used 700 times, ranking third. Girls' Generation's "Forever 1" ranked seventh with 565 uses, and IVE's "After LIKE" and "ELEVEN" were played over 500 times each, ranking eighth and ninth respectively.
Looking at the top 10, except for BTS (5th) and Choi Yena (9th), all were girl groups. A GS Shop official explained, "Girl group songs are generally bright, exciting, and easy to listen to, so they fit well with home shopping broadcasts."
This also reflects the characteristics of the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), who make up 88% of GS Shop's PDs. In the past, home shopping PDs requested music with feelings like "exciting" or "bright," but MZ generation PDs directly specify their preferred songs, many of which include girl group songs. The selection of hip-hop genre music, which was rarely used in home shopping broadcasts before, is also increasing according to PDs' requests.
There are also cases where songs related to guests or product models are selected. For example, in broadcasts for "TS Shampoo" (model Lim Young-woong), "Cozima Massage Chair" (model Jang Yoon-jung), and "Highmun" (model Jang Min-ho), songs by the singers who are the product models are included. Songs are often selected because their titles match the product name or due to their lyrics. Regularly used songs include Norazo's "Godeungeo," Jang Yoon-jung's "Kimchi Olle," Park Myung-soo's "Naengmyeon," Can's "Nae Sarang Ganjang Gejang," and Rimiwa Gamja's "Chicken."
