View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 5th that it held the ‘2022 Carbon Neutral Pilot School Thematic Workshop’ from the 1st to the 3rd in Jeju, attended by 36 managers and staff from 18 schools in Jeonnam.
This workshop was conducted to strengthen the capabilities of those involved in the carbon neutral pilot school contest project, which was selected to discover excellent models for realizing school carbon neutrality in the era of climate crisis.
The workshop began with sharing group achievements by school level, followed by presentations of excellent operation cases, and discussions on system improvements and other requested matters.
In addition, various environmental and ecological sensitivity enhancement programs such as experiential activities linked to Seonheul Gotjawal Village and a tour of the CFI Future Hall were provided, receiving great responses from the participants.
A teacher who attended the workshop said, “It was a good time to share thoughts and experience with teachers who share a common denominator of love for the Earth,” and added, “I will become an educator who leads environmental education by using what I learned and felt at the workshop as a foundation.”

Kim Eun-seop, Director of the Future Talent Division, said, “In line with the revision of the Framework Act on Education and the mandatory environmental education for elementary and middle schools, we will provide systematic support to activate school climate change environmental education,” and added, “Next year, through the ‘Carbon Neutral Leading School’ contest project, 51 schools from kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools will be selected and operated.”
