They shared warm and heartfelt kindness on a cold winter day by collecting discarded plastic from the 1,700-pyeong chili pepper field and removing chili strings and stakes.
On that day, the members, wanting to offer some help amid difficulties in securing labor due to COVID-19 and other reasons, prepared work clothes and gloves themselves and carried out volunteer work all day long in the chili pepper field without imposing any burden on the farm, despite the freezing temperature of minus 5 degrees Celsius.
The farm owner, Mr. Hong (54 years old, Yonghwa-ri, Ilwol-myeon), who received the labor assistance, said, “I was very worried because I was hospitalized for liver cancer surgery and physically uncomfortable, so I couldn’t finish the field cleanup at the end of winter. I deeply thank the members of the Yeongyang Lions Club who sent their warm hands.”

Kim Young-beom, president of the Yeongyang Lions Club, said, “Despite the cold weather, many members were able to come together to help a struggling farm, and it was a very rewarding time. We plan to continue to carry out volunteer activities wherever needed by directly visiting disadvantaged neighbors and vulnerable groups around us, especially households in blind spots.”
