Jin Air to Launch New Daegu-Taipei Route on December 29
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Jin Air announced on the 5th that it will start operating international flights departing from Daegu with the launch of the Daegu~Taipei route from December 29.
Jin Air will deploy a total of 189-seat B737 aircraft on the Daegu~Taipei route, operating five times a week as a new service. This expands the international air route at Daegu Airport about 32 months after the first flight on the Daegu~Jeju route in April 2020.
The flight schedule for the Daegu~Taipei route departs from Daegu Airport at 11:20 PM local time and arrives in Taipei at 1:00 AM the next day. From January 21, 2023, the operation will be expanded to seven times a week.
Taipei is one of the major tourist destinations favored by Koreans, rich in attractions such as the 'Shilin Night Market,' the 'Taipei 101 Building,' the ninth tallest building in the world, and 'Jiufen,' which inspired the animation 'Spirited Away.'
In particular, Taiwan resumed visa-free entry for Koreans from the end of September. Since October 13, the quarantine policy for overseas arrivals has changed to a 7-day self-monitoring period without mandatory quarantine, opening the borders for free travel.
Jin Air explained, "With this new route, we will expand travel options for residents of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, serve as a bridge connecting the two countries by attracting Taiwanese tourists, and revitalize the local economy."
