Newly Confirmed Cases at 52,861, Similar to a Week Ago... 442 Severe Cases (Summary)
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Min-jae] As the spread of the COVID-19 resurgence slows down, 52,000 new cases were reported on the 3rd.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the 3rd, 52,861 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 27,261,526. The number of new cases decreased by 126 from the previous day (52,987). Compared to a week ago on the 26th of last month (52,788), there was a slight increase of 73 cases, continuing the trend of a slowing increase.
However, compared to two weeks ago on the 19th of last month (50,568), there are 2,293 more cases.
From the 27th of last month to the 3rd, the daily new cases were 47,010 → 22,313 → 71,461 → 67,402 → 57,069 → 52,987 → 52,861, averaging 53,014 cases per day.
Among the newly confirmed cases on this day, 55 were imported cases, the same as the previous day. Domestic community transmission cases were 52,806.
The number of cases by region (including imported cases) are: Gyeonggi 14,807, Seoul 10,369, Incheon 3,107, Busan 2,755, Gyeongnam 2,727, Gyeongbuk 2,575, Daegu 2,372, Chungnam 2,268, Daejeon 1,667, Chungbuk 1,727, Jeonbuk 1,748, Jeonnam 1,614, Gwangju 1,776, Gangwon 1,577, Ulsan 918, Sejong 473, Jeju 348, Quarantine 33.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized decreased by 18 from the previous day (460) to 442. The number of severe cases has remained in the 400s for two consecutive weeks since the 19th of last month.
