800 Hapkido Practitioners Gathered... Gumi Saemaeul Cup National Hapkido Tournament Held After 3 Years
3-4 Days at Gumi City Complex Sports Center, Nationwide Club Members Compete to Showcase Skills
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Gumi City, Gyeongbuk Province (Mayor Kim Jang-ho) held the 10th Gumi Saemaeul National Hapkido Competition at the Gumi City Complex Sports Center over two days from the 3rd to the 4th.
Hosted by the Gumi City Sports Council and organized by the Gumi City Hapkido Association, this competition was held for the first time in three years since 2019 due to COVID-19. This year, about 800 Hapkido enthusiasts from 10 cities and provinces nationwide participated to compete in their skills.
Marking its 10th anniversary this year, the competition was divided into elementary, middle, high school, university, and general divisions. Contests were held in sparring, technique demonstration, and team performance categories, and on the second day, a champions' tournament was conducted for sparring winners by age group.

Jang In-su, Director of Sports Promotion, said, “The diverse techniques involving attack and defense and the passion of the Hapkido athletes captivated the audience,” adding, “Through this competition, we hope that various aspects of our traditional martial art, Hapkido, will be recognized and lead to the development of community sports.”
