Changnyeong-gun Receives Disease Control Agency Director Award for 'Prevention of Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Diseases'

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, was selected as an excellent institution at the 2022 Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease Management Conference hosted by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency on November 30 and received the Commissioner Award of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
The evaluation was conducted for public health centers nationwide in four areas: ▲ dedication to community cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease prevention and management ▲ implementation of policies related to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases ▲ community education and promotion ▲ contribution to public health promotion in management fields and best practices.
After the first evaluation by city and province, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency made the final selection of excellent institutions. In Gyeongnam Province, Changnyeong-gun received the Commissioner Award of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, and Yangsan City received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
The county received high evaluations for operating the Hypertension and Diabetes Registration Management Center, Health Experience Center, integrated health promotion programs at senior centers, and education to improve early symptom recognition rates of stroke and myocardial infarction.
According to the 2021 Community Health Survey, the blood pressure awareness rate in Changnyeong-gun was 68.7%, higher than Gyeongnam’s 63.9% and the national average of 61.6%.

A county official said, “We will continue to develop projects for the prevention, management, and awareness improvement of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases to create a healthy Changnyeong for our residents. We will promote health promotion projects that raise the health level of residents to the next level and can be felt directly.”
