CJ's social contribution foundation, CJ Nanum Foundation, operates cultural education and community sharing activities to support vulnerable children and adolescents based on the online sharing platform ‘CJ Donors Camp.’ Especially during kimchi-making season, Chuseok, and Lunar New Year, they conduct food sharing activities such as kimchi and holiday foods to alleviate food culture exclusion among vulnerable groups and provide healthy food.
This year, facing the cold winter, CJ and its affiliates will deliver 97 tons of kimchi to over 2,350 regional children's centers and welfare facilities nationwide. CJ’s ‘Kimchi Sharing’ has continued for 16 years since 2007 and was usually conducted in connection with employee kimchi-making volunteer activities, but since 2020, due to the spread of COVID-19, finished kimchi products have been delivered. Notably, this year, the number of supported facilities was expanded by about 300 to provide kimchi to more recipients.
This kimchi sharing was organized by accepting prior applications from regional children's centers nationwide through the CJ Donors Camp website, and additional welfare facilities requiring food support, such as those for the elderly, disabled, and single mothers, were included to select support targets. By mid-next month, a total of 97 tons of kimchi will be delivered as winter food to vulnerable groups including children, elderly, and disabled people who are struggling with food during the cold season.
