The government raised the crisis alert level from ‘Warning’ to ‘Severe’ on the 28th due to the nationwide refusal of transport by the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters of the Public Transport Union under the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions.
Following the activation of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters led by the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Gyeongnam Province decided to operate a provincial disaster headquarters to minimize damage to the local industrial economy.
The provincial disaster headquarters, led by Governor Park Wan-su, is composed of five teams including the Support Team, 18 departments, and five related agencies.
Until the general strike situation is resolved, 30 members of the disaster headquarters will work on a full-time emergency basis.

Governor Park said, “We will do our utmost to minimize the impact of the Cargo Solidarity general strike on the local industrial economy, including construction, gas stations, and export industries, by closely cooperating with the police and related agencies.”
