[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) welcomed the government's issuance of work commencement orders to those refusing transportation in the cement sector amid the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Public Transport Workers' Union Cargo Solidarity general strike, and requested that the orders be expanded to other industries.
On the 29th, Kim Byung-yu, Head of Member Services at KITA, said in a statement, "KITA welcomes the government's work commencement orders for those refusing transportation in the cement sector, implemented to minimize damage to the national economy and prevent burdens on the public."
Kim added, "Due to the Cargo Solidarity's collective refusal to transport and illegal actions, damage at industrial sites is increasingly spreading, so we request the government to actively consider issuing work commencement orders for other industries as well."
