[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] A separate elevator and related technology are being developed to enable indoor delivery robots to use elevators more smoothly.
The Korea Elevator Industry Cooperative and the Korea Robot Industry Association announced on the 29th that they signed a "business agreement to strengthen and develop the competitiveness of the robot industry and elevator industry" on the 28th, and agreed to cooperate in elevator manufacturing and technology development to allow indoor delivery robots to use elevators more conveniently.
Recently, some companies have rapidly advanced technology by independently developing elevators for robot boarding and requesting limited competitive bidding. However, cooperation between indoor delivery robot companies and elevator manufacturers has not been smooth, causing difficulties in resolving various regulations surrounding robot elevator boarding and in exchanging elevator manufacturing technologies.
Through this business agreement, the two organizations will exchange and cooperate on major projects such as joint research and information exchange for mutual development of the robot and elevator industries, as well as holding joint events to expand cooperation between robot and elevator companies. First, they will promote the development of a digital platform-based elevator operation system for robot boarding. Through this, they plan to establish robots with added service functions as a convenience means in daily life in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
