Gyeonggi-do Elevates Emergency Transport Countermeasures Headquarters Chief for Cargo Solidarity Strike to 'Governor'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province elevated the head of the emergency transportation countermeasures headquarters to the governor on the 28th in response to the general strike by the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that the crisis alert level was raised to 'Severe (Red)' due to the general strike by the Cargo Solidarity Headquarters of the Public Transport Union of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, and accordingly, the head of the emergency transportation countermeasures headquarters was changed to the governor.
Accordingly, the provincial emergency transportation countermeasures headquarters will have the governor as the head, the first deputy governor as the deputy head, and seven related departments including the Logistics and Port Division, Social Disaster Division, Economic Policy Division, and Labor Policy Division will participate.
If necessary, cooperation will be sought from five related organizations such as the Southern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency, Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority, and Gyeongin Regional Labor Office. The main roles of the emergency transportation countermeasures headquarters include monitoring the trends of the Cargo Solidarity, economic trends, securing alternative transportation means, and cooperating on intergovernmental response measures.
In particular, if the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport issues an order to commence work, administrative actions such as identifying non-compliers and canceling driver qualifications will be taken.
