Gwangju Seo-gu Promotes Water Conservation at Government Offices... Full Effort to Overcome Drought
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim I-gang) is focusing its efforts on water-saving practices by establishing a 'Public Office Water Conservation Promotion Plan' to proactively respond to the severe drought.
According to Seo-gu on the 25th, the drinking water sources in Gwangju and Jeonnam are drying up due to the worst drought, and if it continues, water supply restrictions and cutoffs are expected by March next year, making the current water shortage situation serious.
In response, Seo-gu established the 'Public Office Water Conservation Promotion Plan' on the 17th and decided to take the lead in water-saving efforts from the district office to the Dong Administrative Welfare Centers.
Seo-gu has implemented measures such as using personal mouthwash cups inside the office, placing bricks or water bottles in toilets to adjust water levels, adjusting faucet valves, replacing faucets with water-saving (sensor) types, inspecting for pipe leaks, installing water-saving promotional banners and broadcasting announcements inside the office, and attaching water-saving promotional stickers.
Additionally, Seo-gu plans to investigate the current faucet status of 18 Dong Administrative Welfare Centers and promote the phased replacement of faucets with water-saving (sensor) types.
A Seo-gu official stated, "To overcome the water shortage crisis, we will set an example starting from public institutions and lead all citizens to actively practice and participate in water conservation."
