The Ukrainian delegation visiting Jinju included five members: former Ukrainian Ambassador Lee Yang-gu, Serhiy Badiak, an entrepreneur from Lviv, Ukraine, Mykhailo Bozhanytskyi, a construction company representative from Lviv, Ukraine, and others.
Mayor Jo Gyu-il, who met with the Ukrainian delegation, engaged in in-depth discussions on multifaceted exchange and cooperation plans, including education, economic sectors, and the entry of Jinju companies into the Ukrainian market.
Mayor Jo said, “Amid the prolonged war causing increasing political and economic fatigue worldwide, I deeply regret the ongoing suffering of the Ukrainian people,” adding, “I hope the current situation will be resolved swiftly so that the Ukrainian people can restore peaceful daily lives.”
In particular, he proposed fostering diverse exchanges and cooperation in the aviation sector between Jinju, which is soaring as a vibrant ‘future aerospace city’ with regional aerospace industry infrastructure, urban air mobility (UAM) industry ecosystem development, and the attraction of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) rotary-wing flight center, and Ukraine, a nation with a strong aerospace industry.
Former Ambassador Lee expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for the warm welcome,” and added, “I hope that after the war ends, humanitarian support, education, and cooperation between companies in Jinju will create a better future. I look forward to developing a close relationship through mutual visits and more.”
