Korea Exchange Donates 27 Tons of Kimchi to Vulnerable Groups Including Single-Parent Families and Elderly Living Alone
[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] The Korea Exchange announced on the 24th that it donated 27 tons of kimchi to vulnerable groups, including single-parent families and elderly people living alone.
This kimchi sharing event, which has been ongoing for 12 years, was traditionally held in the front yard of the Korea Exchange, where employees personally made kimchi and donated it to vulnerable groups. However, since last year, to ensure COVID-19 prevention and hygiene, the Korea Exchange has purchased finished kimchi products in bulk and donated them to individual households and organizations.
The kimchi was delivered to elderly people living alone, disabled individuals, and local children's centers through local governments such as Yeongdeungpo District Office and over 100 welfare organizations nationwide.

Son Byung-doo, Chairman of the Korea Exchange, said, "Through this kimchi donation, I hope it will help our neighbors in need to get through the cold winter, even if just a little." He added, "We will continue sustainable sharing activities that can share warmth with neighbors in need, just like the kimchi sharing event that has lasted for 12 years."
