[Asia Economy Reporter Byun Seon-jin] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 24th at midnight that 59,089 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total cumulative number of confirmed cases to 26,784,142.
The number of new cases on this day decreased by 11,235 compared to the previous day (70,324). It increased by 3,665 compared to a week ago on the 17th (55,424), and by 3,741 compared to two weeks ago on the 10th (55,348). Based on Thursday's confirmed cases, this is the highest number in 10 weeks since September 15 (71,444).

The number of critically ill patients is 437, maintaining the 400s for the sixth consecutive day. The intensive care unit bed occupancy rate is 32.1%, with 1,073 available beds. There were 59 additional COVID-19 deaths, bringing the cumulative total to 30,223.
