Gyeonggi-do Residents Policy Festival to Be Held on July 2-3
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The 4th Gyeonggi Province Residents Policy Festival, a "realization of direct democracy" where Gyeonggi residents directly participate to propose and discuss policies, will be held over two days on the 2nd and 3rd of next month at the Suwon Convention Center and the former Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Paldal-gu, Suwon.
This event will be held face-to-face for the first time in two years since COVID-19, with 500 residents participating under the theme of "5 Major Opportunities" to propose policies.
On the first day of the event, the 2nd of next month, at the Suwon Convention Center, there will be ▲ 10 roundtable discussion topics (for pre-registered residents) ▲ a policy town hall meeting with the governor (open residents' meeting) ▲ keynote speeches ▲ residents' free remarks ▲ and congratulatory performances.
The province collected discussion topics through an online public contest from residents between September 1 and 25, then selected 10 discussion agendas by combining the Policy Festival Steering Committee's review (50%) and online residents' voting (50%).
The final discussion topics include ▲ community-integrated care to realize safe care and childcare ▲ expansion of sustainable public jobs for the elderly ▲ establishment of a healthy play culture infrastructure for youth, among others.
During the policy town hall meeting with the governor, the results of the residents' roundtable discussions will be shared, and free communication between the governor and residents will continue.
In addition to participating residents, comments can be made through the live broadcast on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government's YouTube channel.
Residents wishing to participate in the event can pre-register through the official website of the Gyeonggi Province Residents Policy Festival.
On the second day of the event, the 3rd of next month, at the former Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office, which is being developed into a social innovation complex by 2025, there will be ▲ roundtable discussions ▲ promotional booths ▲ and congratulatory performances.
The promotional booths and congratulatory performances will be held on the lawn yard of the former Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office. Various flea markets and food trucks will participate in the promotional booths, and three performances, including JembeKolla, one of the top six teams from the 2022 Gyeonggi Indie Stance, will be held for the congratulatory performances.
Participation in the event is open to anyone freely without prior registration.
To increase resident participation in this policy festival, the province is conducting a comment-writing event through the official social networking service (SNS) of the "4th Gyeonggi Province Residents Policy Festival," selecting a total of 84 winners who will receive chicken and mobile convenience store gift certificates.
