NongHyup Bank Gwangyang Branch Delivers Love Rice to Elderly Welfare Facilities in Gwangyang City
Donation of 3,200kg of Rice to 12 Elderly Care Facilities and 6 Elderly Group Homes
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] NongHyup Bank Gwangyang Branch (Branch Manager Im Seong-jae) donated 3,200kg of rice (worth 8 million KRW) on the 23rd to elderly residents in local nursing facilities and elderly communal living homes.
The donated white rice will be delivered to 12 elderly nursing facilities and 6 elderly communal living homes in Gwangyang City to support rice farmers struggling with decreased consumption and to relieve the fatigue of the elderly caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
A representative of NongHyup Bank Gwangyang Branch said, “We deeply appreciate the hard work of the staff at elderly welfare facilities who always strive for the welfare of the elderly, and we hope that the rice donation will help the residents enjoy a joyful year-end.”
Ha Tae-woo, Head of the Elderly and Disabled Department, stated, “With the winter season approaching, we plan to conduct safety inspections of elderly welfare facilities to prepare for natural disasters and prevent fire and safety accidents,” adding, “We will make efforts to ensure that the elderly can use the facilities safely through systematic and thorough inspections.”
Jung In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang City, said, “I hope that the elderly residents of welfare facilities, who are going through a more difficult time than anyone else due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, can have a healthy and warm year-end,” and added, “We will do our best to create a Gwangyang City where all citizens are happy and none are left out.”
