According to the Daegu District Court, A was indicted on charges of beating his mother B with a blunt weapon and stabbing her multiple times with a knife at his home in Buk-gu, Daegu, on September 28, causing her death.
A also killed his pet dog by hitting it with a blunt weapon when it barked during the crime.
It was revealed that A testified he committed the crime because he feared losing his job when his mother tried to file for personal bankruptcy.
After the crime, A attempted suicide by running into a road with passing cars but failed, according to the investigation.
A, who has suffered from mental illness since childhood, was diagnosed with an intellectual disability in 2015 and is known to have worked as a cleaner after vocational training.
