A Dedicated Smart Logistics Center for SMEs to Open at Incheon Airport
Jungjinkong-Incheon Airport Corporation, Joint Logistics Center Development Agreement for 2nd Airport Logistics Complex Social Value Project
Providing Lowest Costs Across All Logistics Areas from Product Storage to Transportation and Export Customs Clearance
A 'Smart Logistics Center Exclusively for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)' covering approximately 20,000㎡ will be established at Incheon Airport. This initiative aims to support small and medium-sized cargo companies that have been deprioritized in logistics processing or are bearing relatively higher logistics costs amid the prolonged global logistics crisis. By enabling the use of all logistics stages?from product storage to transportation and export customs clearance?at the lowest cost, it is expected to enhance the competitiveness of exporting small and medium-sized venture companies.
The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 23rd that it signed a 'Joint Logistics Center Development Agreement for the Social Value Project at the 2nd Airport Logistics Complex' with Incheon International Airport Corporation (President Kim Kyung-wook, hereinafter referred to as Incheon Airport Corporation).
This agreement was promoted to smoothly carry out the government’s national agenda of 'Establishing Logistics Centers Exclusively for SMEs.' Taking this agreement as an opportunity, the two organizations will create a 20,000㎡ (approximately 6,000 pyeong) logistics center exclusively for SMEs within the 2nd Airport Logistics Complex at Incheon Airport to support domestic SMEs, startups, and e-commerce companies with high growth potential. Additionally, they plan to build and operate a 'One-Click & One-Stop Logistics Platform' that supports all logistics areas?including product storage, transportation, and export customs clearance services?for small and medium venture companies using air logistics.
In particular, the same services will be provided at discounted rates to all participating companies regardless of their annual logistics volume, and policy support such as logistics consulting using experts will be linked for companies that wish to receive it. This consideration is based on the fact that, as of 2020, 85.4% of exporting SMEs are estimated to be small-volume shippers with annual exports of less than 1 million USD.
To this end, Incheon Airport Corporation will be responsible for site development and construction of the joint logistics center within the 2nd Airport Logistics Complex, while SBC will handle investment in advanced facilities, discovery of promising companies, and operation of the joint logistics center. The operation of the logistics center will be carried out by a specialized company with experience in managing smart logistics systems, aiming for completion by the end of 2024.
Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon Airport Corporation, said, "We have joined forces to develop this joint logistics center to support domestic SMEs, startups, and e-commerce companies in pioneering overseas markets."

Kim Hak-do, Chairman of SBC, emphasized, "The prolonged global logistics crisis triggered by COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war has increased the logistics burden on small and medium venture companies. Beyond simply providing logistics space, we will support strengthening the competitiveness of exporting small and medium venture companies through the establishment of smart logistics infrastructure."
