Changnyeong Residents Save Precious Life at Bugok Bathhouse
Protagonist Park Jaehyun Saves a 70-Year-Old Submerged Underwater with CPR
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] A man in his 70s who lost consciousness and was on the brink of death due to myocardial infarction or cerebral infarction while in a bathhouse pool was saved by a man in his 40s who had learned cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Park Jae-hyun, who ran an advertising business in Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam, served as the president of Changnyeong JC, and volunteered as a member of the local neighborhood watch, visited a bathhouse in the Bugok Oncheon Tourist Special Zone in Changnyeong with an acquaintance on the 6th.
At that time, there were about a dozen customers in the bathhouse, and as usual, Park took a shower and then immersed himself in the pool. However, he noticed a man submerged in the water, floating on his back as if doing backstroke.
Realizing that the man showed no slight movement, Park immediately rushed over and pulled the man out of the water. The man in his 70s had a pale blue face and was not breathing.
Park immediately performed CPR, which he had learned previously, for about 3 to 4 minutes, and finally, the man in his 70s regained consciousness. The man was transported to the hospital by the 119 emergency medical team that arrived shortly after resuscitation, received treatment, and returned to his daily life.
Park’s life-saving actions were only made known several days later, and the chief of Changnyeong Police Station presented Park with a letter of appreciation and expressed gratitude.
