"Our Local Safety Guardians" ... Yeongyang Volunteer Fire Brigade Hosts Firefighting Skills Competition - -
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] The Yeongyang Volunteer Fire Brigade Firefighting Skills Competition was held on the 16th at the Ipam-myeon Culture and Sports Center.
Hosted by the Yeongyang Volunteer Fire Brigade Association and sponsored by Yeongyang County and Andong Fire Station, the event was attended by about 300 people, including firefighting officials, military volunteer firefighters, and executives and staff from local organizations.
The event was held to promote camaraderie among volunteer firefighters while enhancing disaster response capabilities through firefighting skills and physical fitness improvement. It consisted of a commemorative ceremony including awards for meritorious service and the firefighting skills competition.
Officials from various institutions attended the competition, including County Governor Oh Do-chang, County Council Chairman Kim Seok-hyun, Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Member Park Hong-yeol, and Andong Fire Station Chief Shim Hak-su.
During the commemorative ceremony, awards from the county governor and county council chairman were presented to volunteer firefighters who have contributed to regional safety.
Following this, the firefighting skills competition, attended by eight teams from each town and township, featured four events: everyday safety rescue relay and hose bowling, among others.
This event was jointly hosted by eight volunteer fire brigades within Yeongyang County. Since it was held indoors, thorough preparations such as temperature checks before the competition were conducted to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
