View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] As the resurgence of COVID-19 intensifies, the number of confirmed cases among kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students in the past week, just one day before the College Scholastic Ability Test, has surpassed the highest level in 8 weeks.
On the 16th, the Ministry of Education reported that the number of student COVID-19 cases from November 8 to 14 was 33,197, an increase of 3,649 compared to the previous week (29,548).
The weekly number of student cases is the highest since the third week of September (September 13?19), when 39,533 cases were recorded. The number has been increasing for five consecutive weeks since the third week of October.
The weekly student confirmed cases for the recent four weeks are ▲October 18?24: 19,310 ▲October 25?31: 26,823 ▲November 1?7: 29,548 ▲November 8?14: 33,197.
By school level, the number of confirmed student cases is ▲kindergarten 940 ▲elementary school 14,561 ▲middle school 10,685 ▲high school 6,816 ▲special schools, etc. 195.
The proportion of student cases among the total confirmed cases (360,804) is 9.2%, down from 9.9% the previous week. It was 10.9% during October 25?31, marking a decline for two consecutive weeks.
The participation rate in the student self-diagnosis app was 59.8% as of the 14th. Students who showed symptoms or were instructed to refrain from attending school numbered 27,934 (0.48%).

During the same period, confirmed cases among school staff were 5,078, an increase of 679 from the previous week. The cumulative number of confirmed student cases is 2,866,100, and the cumulative number of confirmed staff cases is 299,889.
