"Seoul Citizen University Comprehensive Plan" Public Hearing on the 17th... Five-Year Plan Announcement
Subtitle 'The Great Reset of Companion City Seoul' Held at Seoul Citizens' University Dongnam District Campus Future Hall
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Amid rapidly changing conditions such as the digital transformation of the educational environment due to COVID-19 and the deepening educational gap, a forum will be held where citizens can directly propose mid- to long-term prospects for lifelong education needed by the public.
On the 16th, the Seoul Lifelong Education Promotion Institute announced that it will hold a public hearing on the "2023?2027 Comprehensive Plan for Seoul Citizen University" on the 17th at the Future Hall of the Southeast Campus of Seoul Citizen University.
This public hearing is organized under the subtitle "The Great Reset of Companion Special City Seoul" to gather diverse opinions for restructuring the functions, roles, and system of Seoul Citizen University during the 8th municipal government. The comprehensive plan of Seoul Citizen University, reflecting the rapidly changing social environment and the era of Seoul from a macro perspective, will be announced, and the prospects of lifelong education policies will be discussed together by citizens, experts, and lifelong education institution officials.
The 2023?2027 Comprehensive Plan for Seoul Citizen University was established by comprehensively considering various stakeholders’ opinions, including the policy direction of the 8th municipal government such as "Fair City Seoul" and "Companion Special City for the Vulnerable," as well as learners, autonomous districts, and related institutions. It systematically presents the future operational strategies, tasks, and annual implementation plans of Seoul Citizen University. Up to October, a total of 3,829 courses have been operated, attracting 342,248 learners to Seoul Citizen University, and producing 1,164 citizen bachelors and 93 citizen masters.
The public hearing will proceed in four sections: keynote speech, presentation, discussion, and opinion gathering. Professor Lee Hee-soo of Chung-Ang University will deliver the keynote speech titled "The Great Reset of Companion Special City!: A New Leap for Seoul Lifelong Education," and Professor Lim Kyung-soo of Konkuk University will present the comprehensive plan for Seoul Citizen University.

Acting Director Lee Hoe-seung said, "Establishing the comprehensive plan for Seoul Citizen University is essential to design customized education programs for life transitions to prepare for future society," adding, "It is a necessary project to restore the educational ladder of Companion Special City Seoul, which creates a discrimination-free educational environment and helps anyone easily develop their capabilities through various pathways."
