On the 13th, Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that nine in-house volunteer groups, including Hyunsuhoe, the Team Leaders Council, Damuldan, the Craftsmen Association, Damoahoe, Jeongwoohoe, the Marine Corps Landing Volunteer Association, Sonsaranghoe, and YLC, visited apple orchards in Dongmyeong Village, Eoreumgol, Nammyung-ri, Sannae-myeon, Miryang-si, Gyeongnam Province, to volunteer for apple picking.
A total of about 130 Hyundai Heavy Industries employees and their families visited 17 orchards to harvest apples and help with packaging them in boxes, assisting the farmers with their labor shortage.
Since establishing a sisterhood relationship with Dongmyeong Village in 2005, Hyundai Heavy Industries has been visiting the area every spring and fall during busy farming seasons to fill the labor shortage in rural areas with the sweat of volunteers.
Kim Byung-kwan, head of Dongmyeong Village, said, "We have always been worried about the lack of labor during harvest season, so we are grateful that Hyundai Heavy Industries employees have not forgotten to come again this year."
On this day, not only Hyundai Heavy Industries employees but also their families participated to lend a hand.
