Namwon-si Opens 'National Budget Strategy Center' in Sejong-si

[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced that it has strengthened the functions of the existing Namwon City Sejong Office in Sejong City, where the government complex is located, by establishing the ‘Namwon City National Budget Strategy Center’ and held an opening ceremony on the 8th.

Mayor Choi Kyung-sik held the opening ceremony of the Namwon City National Budget Strategy Center to strengthen external cooperation related to central government ministries, where securing the national budget and organic and prompt response to central ministries are becoming increasingly important, and to utilize it as an advanced base for the national budget.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Choi Kyung-sik, Lee Mi-seon, Vice Chairman of Namwon City Council, Yang Chung-mo, President of Namgonghoe (former head of Saemangeum Development Agency), Park Han-geun, President of the Finance Namwon Hometown Association, and key figures from central government ministries, who encouraged the active performance of the role of the Namwon City National Budget Strategy Center.

National Assembly member Lee Yong-ho was scheduled to attend the opening ceremony but was unable to attend due to the upcoming review of next year’s government budget. He sent a congratulatory message promising to carefully manage the local budget during the remaining National Assembly schedule.

The Namwon City National Budget Strategy Center has completed office space allocation, remodeling, and staff placement in Sejong Central Town in Eojin-dong, which has excellent accessibility to the Government Sejong Complex including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Ministry of Environment, and plans to start normal operations from this day.

The city expects that the center will serve as a permanent communication channel with central government ministries, where officials and related personnel can comfortably visit, handle tasks frequently, and hold meetings, thereby completing an organic cooperation system between central ministries and Namwon City, enabling prompt resolution of Namwon City’s pending issues.

Mayor Choi said, “At today’s opening ceremony, I ordered to upgrade the status and role of the existing Sejong Office one step further to create ‘Namwon leaping forward with culture and future industries’ and to implement a differentiated strategy from other local governments.”

He added, “Based on a rich information network and external activities, we will maximize the national budget and create the Namwon City National Budget Strategy Center that runs relentlessly to build a safe and happy city for citizens.”
