Hankook Tire Proves Performance of Dedicated Tire 'ION' at Electric Vehicle Race Competition
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) successfully concluded the ‘ADAC 24 Hours e-Competition’ event, in which it participated as a presenting partner and competing team.
According to Hankook Tire on the 8th, the ‘ADAC 24 Hours e-Competition,’ held from October 28 to 30 (local time) at the Hockenheimring Grand Prix Circuit in Germany, is an endurance race where production electric vehicles (BEVs) drive continuously for 24 hours. As part of the future mobility expo ‘e4 Testival,’ the event was organized in a format where automakers, parts manufacturers, and the general public formed teams to compete together.
The race format is that the team completing the most laps over 24 hours on the approximately 4.57 km Hockenheimring Grand Prix Circuit wins. Since the competition is conducted exclusively with electric vehicles, battery charging strategy, energy efficiency, and tire performance supporting the electric vehicle’s capabilities are crucial.
This year’s competition was divided into four classes?A, B, C, and D?based on the electric vehicle segment and battery capacity. Hankook Tire formed the ‘Korea Ion’ team and participated in the D class, which included electric vehicles with battery capacities of 75 kWh or more. The ‘Korea Ion’ team, equipped with the electric vehicle dedicated tire ‘iON evo’ on a Tesla ‘Model Y Performance,’ achieved a podium finish in that class.
