Police Launch Investigation into Cause of Bonghwa Mine Accident...Special Investigation Team Formed

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency announced on the 5th that it has formed a dedicated investigation team for the Bonghwa mining accident. The investigation team consists of three teams and 18 investigators.

The police plan to summon five workers who escaped the collapse accident on the 26th of last month as witnesses for preliminary investigations. Afterwards, they intend to conduct investigations targeting executives of the mining company. They also plan to investigate officials from institutions under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to determine whether they fulfilled their management and supervision responsibilities.
