Chungnam to Set Next Year's Main Budget at 9.8 Trillion Won... 5.4% Increase from This Year
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province has prepared a main budget of 9.8907 trillion KRW for next year and submitted it to the Chungnam Provincial Council. The budget will be finalized through the provincial council plenary session on the 16th of next month.
According to the province on the 4th, next year's main budget consists of 8.2045 trillion KRW in the general account, 959.8 billion KRW in the special account, and 726.4 billion KRW in funds. This is an increase of 510.6 billion KRW (5.4%) compared to this year's main budget of 9.3801 trillion KRW.
The province formulated the budget in a direction that boldly invests finances in citizen projects while maintaining fiscal soundness.
To this end, it is explained that the direction of financial investment was strategically reset by rationally reorganizing overlapping cash welfare projects and education office support projects that require improvement in burden ratios.
First, next year's budget focuses on expanding social overhead capital (SOC) infrastructure and supporting balanced development by region.
Related projects and budgets include 126 billion KRW for local road maintenance projects, 600 million KRW for feasibility evaluation and development plan establishment for the KTX Cheonan·Asan Station complex transfer center, 200 million KRW for the West Coast international marine leisure tourism belt establishment project, and 300 million KRW for regional balanced development smart factory construction.
To build sustainable rural and fishing villages, budgets were allocated respectively for projects such as ▲leasing-type smart farm complex construction (6.6 billion KRW) ▲support for customized smart farm distribution for young farmers (1.1 billion KRW) ▲construction of Chungnam-type youth startup smart farm education center (3 billion KRW) ▲improvement of rural and fishing village residential spaces (11 billion KRW).
In the medical and childcare sectors, budgets were allocated focusing on resolving regional imbalances, including ▲function reinforcement and professional personnel support for emergency medical institutions in the southwestern region (3.2 billion KRW) ▲establishment of postpartum care centers in the southern region (3 billion KRW) ▲special childcare policies (36.6 billion KRW).
In the sectors of revitalizing the market economy and fostering future strategic industries, the budget includes ▲large-scale parking lot construction for traditional markets (10 billion KRW) ▲interest subsidy for small business financial support (6.9 billion KRW) ▲hydrogen city construction (2.6 billion KRW) ▲construction of a comprehensive support center for vehicle semiconductors (1.8 billion KRW) ▲establishment of a performance evaluation base for fine dust reduction in response to eco-friendly ship conversion (1.3 billion KRW).
Additionally, budgets for youth include support for youth startup and operation of intern camps (1.5 billion KRW), support for youth cultural and artistic activities (300 million KRW), and for seniors, budgets include integrated support center for senior jobs (300 million KRW), park golf course construction (3.6 billion KRW), and veterans' honor allowances (5.8 billion KRW).
