China Urges "Creating Conditions for Dialogue Resumption" Amid Extension of South Korea-US Air Drills

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] Regarding North Korea's continuous provocations, South Korea and the United States have decided to extend the joint air exercise 'Vigilant Storm,' while China emphasized that the issue should be resolved through dialogue and negotiations.
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a regular briefing on the 3rd (Korean time) in response to questions about the extension of the exercise, "Protecting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and resolving issues through dialogue and negotiations aligns with the common interests of the region."
Spokesperson Zhao added, "We hope that all relevant parties will face the fundamental causes of the Korean Peninsula issue directly and create conditions to resume meaningful dialogue."

Meanwhile, according to the Air Force, the exercise was scheduled from the 31st of last month to the 4th of this month, but the period will be extended. Details such as the extension period are currently under consultation between South Korea and the United States.
