Starting Today, CSAT 'Voluntary Quarantine Period'... Ministry of Education Urges "Avoid Gatherings"
Recommendation to Follow Basic Quarantine Rules to Prevent COVID-19 Infection
If Symptoms Appear, Take Rapid Antigen Test and Report to Local City or Provincial Office of Education
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Kyung-mi] The Ministry of Education announced that from the 3rd until the 17th, the day of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), a two-week "Voluntary Quarantine Practice Period" will be in effect.
According to the Ministry of Education, starting three days before the CSAT, all high schools nationwide and schools where test centers are set up will conduct classes remotely, and they have requested academies to refrain from in-person classes. Additionally, disinfection inspections will be conducted at locations frequently visited by students, such as nationwide entrance exam academies, study cafes, PC rooms, and karaoke rooms.
The Ministry of Education advised, "Test takers and their families should wear indoor masks at home and follow quarantine guidelines such as hand washing and regular indoor ventilation." They also recommended that families avoid external contact in crowded places such as dinners, celebrations, and success prayer events to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection for the test takers.
In particular, if test takers or their families exhibit suspected COVID-19 symptoms, they should visit nearby clinics or hospitals to receive a rapid antigen test and report the results to the local metropolitan or provincial office of education.
Considering the mandatory one-week quarantine period, test takers confirmed positive for COVID-19 from the 11th onward must immediately inform the education office of their diagnosis to receive necessary support for the CSAT, such as assignment to designated test centers. If tested the day before the CSAT, test takers must inform the testing institution, such as the hospital, that they are CSAT candidates to ensure prompt measures.
