Q3 Earnings Conference Call
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seoyoon] On the 3rd, during the Q3 2022 earnings conference call, SK Innovation announced the status of SK Geocentric's plastic waste recycling efforts, stating that "SK Geocentric follows the 'Green for Better Life' initiative" and "is securing plastic waste raw materials and recycling materials while promoting a Plastic & Carbon Zero strategy."
They added, "We are leveraging our know-how to develop proprietary technologies and realizing this through collaboration with global partners who possess SK Geocentric's three targeted chemical recycling technologies." Furthermore, they said, "To enhance operational efficiency, we are constructing three plants on a single site in Ulsan to create a recycling cluster, which is scheduled to be operational by 2025."

SK Geocentric is also working on securing plastic waste to ensure the successful operation of the domestic recycling cluster. Song Hwaseok, Head of Management Planning at SK Geocentric, stated, "We expect to secure sufficient plastic waste necessary for recycling," adding, "We are continuously expanding plastic waste recycling projects in Europe, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia with companies that possess chemical recycling technologies, and are making these projects more concrete. We will continue to share updates through future IR sessions."
