Kakao Games Accelerates Global Expansion... "Distera, Eversoul, ArchaAge War Scheduled for Release"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao Games is accelerating its expansion into the global market by consecutively launching new titles starting with Distera this month.
On the 2nd, during the Q3 earnings conference call, Kakao Games CEO Kyehyun Cho announced that one of the anticipated titles, the mobile collection RPG "Eversoul," is scheduled for release in January next year. The launch of the MMORPG ArcheAge War is also expected in the first quarter of next year.
CEO Cho explained, "The mobile RPG Eversoul requires some additional enhancements during the preparation process, and considering the year-end market store issues with Google and Apple, we plan to launch it in early January next year." He added, "We plan to start pre-registrations for Eversoul this week," and "Marketing has already begun for the first quarter release, and we will unveil content available for pre-experience at this year's G-Star."
He stated, "Eversoul will be launched simultaneously not only in Korea but also globally," and "Since Japan is the largest demand market for the subculture genre, we plan a separate release in the second half of next year with advanced localization to maximize performance."
Additionally, CEO Cho revealed that Distera, which is scheduled for a global launch, will enter Steam Early Access on the 24th. He also mentioned that ArcheAge War will open pre-registrations next month and is planned for release in the first quarter of next year.
Regarding ArcheAge War, he said, "It is a Korean-style traditional MMORPG utilizing the ArcheAge IP, which has been serviced globally for over 10 years and has gained recognition. It is a highly anticipated title as Excel Games' next growth engine following Moonlight Sculptor." He added, "We are enhancing the final balancing to ensure a successful launch in the first quarter of next year. The first teaser video was released at the end of last month, and a second teaser is planned for G-Star."
CEO Cho explained that despite the overheated competition in the domestic mobile MMORPG market, the growth potential remains high.
He emphasized, "There may be concerns about intensified MMORPG competition with the launch of ArcheAge War in the first quarter of next year, but even considering the high traffic and queues concentrated in a short period, we believe there is strong latent demand for MMOs in the Korean market."
