Fines Up to 2 Million Won for Restricted or Prohibited Acts Outside Designated Areas
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Baegam Office of Naejangsan National Park under the Korea National Park Service announced on the 1st that starting from November, fines for illegal activities such as smoking, camping, and drinking outside designated areas within the national park will be strengthened to prevent forest fires, fires, and safety accidents and to raise public awareness.
The increased initial fine amounts have been set at 30% or more of the maximum fine amount stipulated by law, in accordance with the fine amount guidelines.
For example, the fine for "smoking outside designated areas," which has a maximum amount of 2 million KRW, will be increased from the current 100,000 KRW to 600,000 KRW for the first violation.
