On the 1st, the National Investigation Headquarters of the Police Agency announced that it will operate an independent organization to thoroughly investigate the various controversies and suspicions raised in connection with the Itaewon incident.
The special investigation headquarters is composed of a total of 501 personnel, including Superintendent Son Jehan as the head. Superintendent Son previously served as the head of the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Division at the National Investigation Headquarters of the Police Agency.
The head of the special investigation headquarters will conduct investigations independently without receiving orders or supervision from superiors regarding their duties and will report only the investigation results.
The police plan to proceed with the investigation into the cause and responsibility of the Itaewon incident with a sense of urgency.
