[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan District, issued an official statement on the 1st, saying, "As the mayor, I am deeply sorry to the residents of Yongsan and the people of the nation for the tragic accident that occurred in the area."
He continued, "When I think of the bereaved families who lost their children in this sudden accident, I too cannot hold back my sorrow. I pray for the souls of the victims who passed away in this unfortunate accident and extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families."
He also stated, "This is a time for mourning and comforting the deceased and their families, and a time to fully focus on handling the accident, including funeral procedures and support for the treatment of the injured. As mayor, I will mobilize all administrative resources to do my utmost to manage the situation without any shortcomings."
Along with this, he pledged that once the mourning period ends and the accident handling is completed, the district office will thoroughly review whether there were any shortcomings in the prior response and establish detailed measures for the future.
