Incheon Namdong-gu Supports Deficit Losses of Unprofitable M-Bus Routes
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Namdong-gu, Incheon will support the deficit losses of this year for the metropolitan express-type city bus routes M6439 and M6410.
The district announced on the 31st that it recently held the M Bus Transportation Business Financial Support Deliberation Committee and decided accordingly.
Previously, in 2020, the district enacted the 'Namdong-gu Metropolitan Express-type City Bus Transportation Business Financial Support Ordinance.'
According to the ordinance, M bus transportation operators who have operated unprofitable routes in the region for more than one year can receive support of up to 50% of the deficit losses within the budget range.
Before providing financial support, the district conducted a financial support service for the transportation costs of unprofitable routes for three months starting in July through a professional accounting firm to identify the deficits of the two routes.
With the decision of this financial support deliberation committee, the district plans to support a total of 247.47 million KRW from the district budget.

A Namdong-gu official stated, "This support is a self-help measure at the district level for the convenience of Namdong-gu residents' transportation until national and city subsidies become a reality," and added, "We will continuously request Incheon City and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for national and city subsidies and the introduction of a quasi-public operation system."
