"Speed of Digital Innovation" CJ Freshway Launches Big Data Platform
Building a Big Data Platform for Data-Driven Decision Making
Significantly Enhancing IT Infrastructure Scalability by Adopting 'Cloud Native'
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] CJ Freshway announced on the 31st that it is accelerating its digital transformation by being the first in the food ingredient distribution industry to establish a big data platform and introduce cloud-native infrastructure.
The establishment of the big data platform was promoted as part of a 'data literacy' strategy to create a digital environment where data can be utilized according to its purpose. The company plans to enable organizational members to analyze and utilize data across the entire value chain, including products, sales, marketing, and logistics, actively developing data-driven customer-tailored solutions.
CJ Freshway's big data platform consists of two parts: a platform exclusively for data analysts and a data portal used by general members. The analyst platform has already been completed and is performing data analysis functions, while the data portal is scheduled to be launched early next year once operational preparations such as user manuals are completed.
The data portal will serve as a search site where members can easily find the data they want. Its core functions include △data analysis requests △integrated data search △data visualization. Through this, members can check data analysis cases and the latest trends related to their work and also share data they have created themselves.
Before the full operation of the data portal, efforts are also being made to foster in-house citizen developers. Citizen developers refer to users who participate in data portal development without specialized knowledge or skills. Based on this, the plan is to shift the working method from simply being data suppliers who receive data to user-centered processing of data by themselves.
The introduction of global cloud is also progressing steadily. In June, CJ Freshway transitioned its existing IT infrastructure, including the order system, to the cloud. During this process, it attracted attention in the IT industry by applying 'cloud-native technology,' which redesigns existing system design methods to suit the cloud environment for efficient cloud usage.
