View original image[Asia Economy reporters Jang Se-hee and Gong Byung-sun] A massive crowd gathered at a festival held in the Itaewon area of Yongsan-gu, Seoul, ahead of Halloween Day, resulting in a large-scale crush accident.
According to the fire authorities, as of 1:30 a.m. on the 30th, a total of 209 casualties occurred in this accident, including 59 deaths.
The casualties have been transported to various hospitals including Soonchunhyang University Hospital, National Medical Center, Ewha Mokdong Hospital, Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Chung-Ang University Hospital, Seoul National University Hospital, and Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital.
Disaster medical support teams from Seoul National University Hospital, Gangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital, and Hanyang University Hospital have also arrived at the scene to rescue the injured.

Earlier, at around 10:22 p.m. the previous day, a crush accident occurred in the Itaewon area of Seoul, resulting in multiple patients experiencing cardiac arrest. The accident is presumed to have occurred near Itaewon Station to the left of the Hamilton Hotel, where citizens heading home became entangled with each other. On that day, numerous parties were held throughout the Itaewon area ahead of Halloween Day, attracting an estimated crowd of over 100,000 according to police estimates.

The fire authorities issued a Level 3 response starting at around 11:50 p.m. on the day of the accident, mobilizing 364 personnel and 143 pieces of equipment. The police are also responding with 400 officers and 30 pieces of equipment deployed.
