Korea Ceramic Association - Icheon Artisan Association 'Artisans' Communication' Special Ceramic Exhibition
From October 31 to November 4 at Gwangju City Hall 1st Floor Lobby
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Korea Ceramic Association (President Lee Inseon) and the Icheon Artisans Association (President Kim Hyunwook) will hold a special exhibition of ceramics titled "Communication of Artisans" from October 31 to November 4 for five days in the first-floor lobby of Gwangju City Hall.
This special exhibition was prepared to create a venue to re-examine the excellence of ceramics through an exchange exhibition between the Korea Ceramic Association and the Icheon Artisans Association, and to widely promote Korea's traditional culture to the citizens and youth of Gwangju.
The "Communication of Artisans" exhibition features works by 30 participants, including Korea Ceramic Association artists Kang Seonggon, Kang Uiseok, Gong Eunsook, Kwak Yuna, Kim Kyunga, Kim Seongeun, Kim Jonggyun, Noh Sijun, Mo Jiyoung, Park Eungyeong, Bae Eunju, Shim Hyeongchun, Ahn Taeyoon, Lee Youngsoon, Lee Inseon, Lim Eunsook, Jo Mikyung, Jo Yeonhee, Jo Youngjeong, Choi Sunok, Choi Jieun, and Hong Seongwoo, as well as Icheon Artisans Association members Kim Bokhan, Kim Hyunwook, Kim Jongmyeong, Kwon Ohhak, Lee Gukhun, Seo Gukjin, Yoon Jeonghee, and Jeon Taebong.
Lee Inseon, president of the Korea Ceramic Association, stated, "With the heart of helping each other find their true selves, we created a shared space with the Icheon Artisans Association, who have devoted their lives to clay over many years, to look further and wider."
Kim Hyunwook, president of the Icheon Artisans Association, said, "I sincerely congratulate the holding of this exhibition that brings together the fruits of creative activities by members of the Icheon Artisans Association and the Korea Ceramic Association," adding, "I believe it will be an opportunity for many people to appreciate and enjoy the precious works filled with the members' dedication and effort."
Kang Kijeong, mayor of Gwangju, congratulated the "Communication of Artisans" special ceramic exhibition, saying, "It is a great honor to feel and savor the artisans' touch with all your heart," and added, "The works reflecting your passion and agony are themselves a great inspiration and resonance."
Jung Muchang, chairman of the Gwangju City Council, said, "If artisans create great works and citizens naturally enjoy them in their daily lives, the dream of a cultural powerhouse leading the 21st century will become a reality," and added, "I hope this exhibition will serve as a valuable foundation to re-examine the excellence of Korean ceramics and to stimulate the artistic sensibility of citizens."
Meanwhile, since the Korea Ceramic Association's invitation exhibition at the 2017 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Festival in China, it has promoted the excellence of Korean ceramics through events such as the Seoul "Jeollado Jeongdo (定道) Millennium Ceramic Special Exhibition," Gwangju "Jeollado Jeongdo (定道) Millennium Ceramic Special Exhibition," "Dreaming Ceramics with Citizens" exhibition, "Ceramic Special Exhibition Flight (飛上) II," "Handmade (手作) Burigi" exhibition, operation of vocational experience programs for middle and high school students, and exhibitions for people with disabilities and multicultural families.
