Jeongeup-si Promotes 'Healthy Staircase Environment Creation Project'
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 28th that it will promote the ‘Healthy Staircase Environment Creation Project’ targeting apartments with more than 120 households in the region to create a healthy walking environment in daily living spaces.
The ‘Healthy Staircase Environment Creation Project’ is a project that collects residents’ opinions to enable citizens to practice walking exercise in their daily lives by providing the necessity of walking exercise and health information on elevators and staircases.
By visually providing the health benefits of using stairs, calorie consumption effects, and other health information on stairs, walls, and elevators, the project aims to encourage healthy living practices, increase citizens’ walking rates, and reduce obesity rates.
In particular, it has the advantage of improving awareness of healthy living in daily life and managing citizens’ health, as well as transforming the atmosphere of apartments by designing previously dark staircases with bright designs.
Apartments or facility managers who wish to participate can refer to the official document on the city’s website and submit the application form by mail or fax by the 21st of next month.
For detailed inquiries, contact the Healthy Living Team of the Health Promotion Division at Jeongeup City Health Center.
A health center official said, “Healthy stairs were created to transform underused stairs into meaningful spaces to encourage citizens’ voluntary use of stairs,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to create a city-wide walking environment and atmosphere to promote the health of local residents.”
Meanwhile, the city has previously created healthy stairs at six locations, including Saecheonnyun Koaru Apartments, the Central Library, and the Health Center.
